Selling your home can be a significant undertaking, but with careful preparation, you can reduce stress and maximize the sales price of your home. Whether you’re a first-time seller or have experience in the real estate market, taking specific steps to prepare your home is crucial. Today, we’ll discuss three steps to help you get your home showing ready.

1. Schedule a staging consultation. It is ideal to schedule a staging consultation through your real estate agent two to four months before going on the market. This will provide clarity and guidance on what to prioritize on your to-do list. Staging can increase the sales price of your home by 1% to 5%.

2. Enhance your curb appeal. When a potential buyer visits your home, the first thing they notice is the exterior of your home. A well-maintained and visually appealing exterior creates a positive first impression, setting the stage for a successful home showing. A pop of color and fresh landscaping can do a lot to create an inviting atmosphere.

3. Declutter and depersonalize. Buyers want to imagine themselves living in your home. That’s easier to do when they can see the space without distraction. Start by decluttering each room, removing unnecessary items and furniture so your house looks bigger. Consider renting a storage unit for extra things. Since you’re going to have a successful home sale, you might as well start getting ready and pack your things for an easier move.
